This could be the last weekend that I’d be spending as a pregnant woman. We’re expecting the baby anytime now. The hubby is not yet done assembling some baby furniture though and unfortunately, he is planning to do something else. I’m not really psyched about leaving home these days. I wanna be ready for baby anytime she wants to come out. Wish we had our own lawn and one of those ariens lawn mowers to keep him preoccupied.

Clean House, Finally!

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I still can’t believe how awfully long it took us to get the house back to how it used to be after we moved to an apartment unit downstairs. Almost half a year has passed since then. I can’t decide who is a worse procrastinator, the hubby or me? I’m pregnant, that’s my excuse; he’s working, that’s his excuse. If it hadn’t been for the baby, he wouldn’t be in a rush to clean up now. Or if I hadn’t been pregnant, I would have finished doing everything myself months ago.

Anyways, this ordeal had been a really depressing experience for me at times. For months I felt like I was living in a storage unit. With stuff still in boxes, I was tortured by not knowing where certain things were, not being able to clean the house properly and just the plain sight of clutter everywhere. If you’re even the least bit of the obsessive compulsive person that I am, you’ll understand.

So I thought to myself, the next time that I’m doing this again, moving that is, it would have to be to a property that we could call our own, where we could stay and not move again. Ever. But to do that, I would have to help the hubby save up, especially with the way the economy is going these days.

I don’t see that happening anytime soon though, we’d be focusing on the baby for now, of course. But it’s not too early to equip myself with valuable information about mortgages, refinancing and building a good credit score so when the time comes, I’ll be ready, if not financially, knowledge-wise at least.

Almost Done Nesting

Monday, April 18th, 2011

The hubby and I are almost done preparing our nest for little Swee’ Pea. Most of our stuff (especially hubby’s, he sure does a LOT of stuff) have either been kept in storage or donated to Goodwill or simply thrown away. There were a lot of old shoes and clothes, even several computer peripherals and hp printers that have run out of ink with the stuff that we gave away. A small pile of papers need to go through the shredder and we’re ready to finish up by vacuuming the carpet, air purifying and setting up baby furniture and gear.

Evil TV

Thursday, April 7th, 2011

I had to have gestational diabetes to realize how stagnant my lifestyle has been. This is what I get for being a couch potato for more than two years. I guess I thought I had all the time in the world to procrastinate and that I had plenty of tomorrows to put off today’s work for, so I watch TV. And binge while I’m at it.

Now I’ve learned to just shut the appliance off or totally ignore it so I can have a little exercise or finish some chores. My life is just simpler and more productive without TV. Of course it’s not just the health complication that’s pushing me make this huge change. I have the greatest motivation that’s the early life starting inside of me, the life that I want to be part of for a very, very long time…

sleepless nights once again

Sunday, February 20th, 2011

For about a week after we came back, I was already tucking myself in early and waking up early too. I finally and happily ticked off the “Go to bed early” part of my pregnancy to-do-list. And  hubby was sleeping early too. Yay for that! Although I’m not at all a morning person, I was beginning to love that sleep pattern because waking up was not a struggle anymore and I found that I can do a lot of stuff while waiting for hubby to wake up, like chat with friends abroad, prepare his breakfast and give more attention to my blogs. I can always get some more sleep when I get tired anyways.

Sadly, I’ve gone back to my bad, old, sleeping habits again. I’m awake at the wee hours of night and wake up with hunger in the morning when I’m still too sleepy to grab a bite. So I end up extending my sleep for a few hours more, wasting time and ignoring my hunger pang (which can’t be good for baby). I’m trying to get the most out of my situation by catching up on reading my pregnancy book but I may have to ask for my doctor’s opinion on this. Anybody know of any good natural sleep aid that I could research about now and ask my doctor about later this week?

Hubby promised me that we’d spend this weekend cleaning up our place. We have some major decluttering and nesting to do. Baby’s gonna be here within the next 90 days or so and already her stuff are starting to pile up. We haven’t done much shopping for her yet because we want to make room for her first but a lot of stuff had already come in from generous family and friends who are just excited to welcome her.

Problem is, where are we going to dump all the junk that we’ve accumulated over the past 3 years? I wish we had a truck and a curt trailer hitch where we could store the stuff that we’re going to get rid of and then decide where to take them later.

I was not able to get enough sleep last night because hubby was playing with his iPod while on karaoke mode. So I had to listen to the TV on top of his voice and his little toy’s sounds… That sort of shooed my sleepiness away.

Once again, I spent the morning getting more shut-eye and snoozing the alarm. Good thing I fried too many Shanghai rolls last night so all I had to do was reheat them and some rice to calm down the little one who is moving about inside me whenever we’re hungry.

I think my appetite is finally getting back. Yesterday I was able to serve a home-cooked meal after a month or so of ordering and dining out. We were also able to buy some fresh fruits, vegetables and some healthy snacks so I have more nutritious food to munch on. I still have to work on taking in more fluids, I’m still not emptying the pitcher that comes with a water filter too within a day. I also need to make a better bedtime routine so I can fix my sleep schedule. The pregnancy book that I got helps a lot, I just need to really practice what it preaches…
