Halloween Candy and Horror Movies!

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Thanks for the article from Jermaine Haynes

There are many advantages to being a big sister, one of them is I still get to go out trick or treating with my younger brothers and sisters. Another advantage is I get paid to do it! Mom stays home and hands out candy while I haul the little ones all over the neighborhood and load them up on sugary candy. Since our neighborhood is in a huge complex with hundreds of homes, we just start at the house next to us and trick or treat until we are too tired to go any further.

Since I’m the oldest I’ve learned over the years the finesse of trick or treating. First you wear a comfortable costume. One year I went as a frozen box pizza. Wow was that uncomforta ble, and because I used real pepperoni I had a line of dogs following me all night. Now I know what works and I help my siblings pick out costumes that will be fun but practical.

Once we are done trick or treating we will head back home with our stash of candy and watch horror movies on our Direct tv state packages until the wee hours of the morning. Halloween is the best time of the year!

Friday Fill-Ins!

Friday, May 7th, 2010

1. Salsa and Tostitos!
2. Cheese, pickles, mayonnaise and ketchup on your hotdog… and you’ve even got mustard.
3. By the time I get home my doggie would be 14 years older.
4. Chips and soda are/ is what I look forward to most when grocery shopping.
5. And I was dreaming I grew so huge that my husband took the liberty of buying diet pills for me. (nightmare!)
6. Iron Man 2 premiere last night, were there just about 30 minutes early, got the best seats and free popcorn too…is there anything else better?!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to spending more time with the hubby, tomorrow my plans include A LOTof things (don’t even get me started) and Sunday, I want to watch another movie, maybe?!

from DVD to Blu-ray

Monday, April 12th, 2010

I think the hubby had just upgraded his DVD collection to Blu-ray. Just the other day, he spent his Best Buy rewards on a number of movies. I’m not complaining (it’s a cheap collection compared to Ferrari parts and the like); he bought Twilight and Ninja Assassin for me. My only problem is, we don’t have much space for them anymore. I’m gonna need a new DVD rack really soon. Then I can rearrange furniture. See, it’s not so bad after all!

I’m at home with the hubby today. But he’s busy with school stuff and doesn’t want any distractions. I made him daing na bangus (milk fish marinated in salt, vinegar and garlic then fried) for lunch and some Shanghai rolls from my in-laws, then we watched Burn After Reading (which sucked! ow!), after that, he didn’t want to do anything with me. My feminine/maternal/smothering instincts tell me to come to him every so often and ask him if he’s ok or if he needs anything, but he tells me to bug off, so that’s what I’m doing. Hey, if supporting him means I should just sit in another room to chat with my girlfriends, blog, play Words with Friends on my iPhone (which is so fun, by the way!) and fidget with Facebook all day, I’ll do just that. I love my man!

E. Cullen & His Piano

Monday, March 22nd, 2010
Twilight is on cable TV again and as you may already have guessed, I watched it for the Nth time. My favorite part now is the one where Edward is playing piano chords, playing his own composition, Bella’s Lullaby. No doubt, since Edward has all the time in the world to compose songs and Play piano chords, that he is an excellent pianist. I even felt bad that the piano broke into pieces when Edward threw Jasper on it in Bella’s defense – but that’s in New Moon. LOL!
I’ve always been a frustrated piano player. But I’m also somewhat uncoordinated like Bella and I don’t really have a good rapport with music. I’ve given up on my dream to learn piano chords a long time ago. I’ve accepted that my hands (and feet) may not have been meant to play music, as my voice is not meant for singing. My fingers have found a different kind of keyboard to play with  and I bet they’re enjoying it a lot too.

FriDate

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Hubby did not realize that we were out on a date for the entire day last Friday. I had an appointment with the dentist at 11:30 am. And being the amazing husband that he is, he went with and waited for me.

Jollibee Burger Steak

Then we had lunch at Jollibee. I wanted to have spaghetti and chicken but figured I’d have a hard time eating that because the right side of my mouth is numb. It was difficult to even keep my mouth closed while gargling back at the dentist’s, I’d probabaly get gas trying to suck in spaghetti. So I settled for burger steak and fries, sipping my soda from the left corner of my lips.

We walked around Seafood City and did a few things there. Then headed back home.

I was doing laundry when he asked me if we can have an early dinner. We had the extra burgers that he ordered from lunch. He studied for a few hours more (that’s his main agenda). Then we went to the gym together to burn some of those fast food calories out of our system. Later still, he wanted to watch She’s Out of my League, so we drove to our second favorite theater. But we were there a bit early, so we drove around to kill time. I was having the time of my life with my soda and popcorn until I felt a headache coming.

I fell flat on the bed when we got home. He stayed up a bit more. If you asked me, he was more successful at making me feel special that day than he was at studying for his test.

TGIF (?)

Saturday, May 30th, 2009

Hubby and I went out to get dinner and watch a movie last Friday. There were several mishaps though…

I should remind myself that I don’t enjoy KFC here are much as I did in the Philippines because:
1. They don’t serve rice
2. Gravy only comes free with mashed potatoes; otherwise you have to buy it
3. They don’t have spoons or knives

Then my husband wanted to watch Up because it was getting such great reviews but we bought our tickets a little too late. When we got in the theater, it was almost full. So we got a refund and bought tickets for Terminator Salvation instead. Hubby never watched any installment of the Terminator series and I can barely remember the flow of the story.

But it was a good night, a fun date nonetheless.

Date Night

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

Tonight was supposed to be date night because:

1. It’s hubby’s payday, so he’s treating me to dinner
2. We got extra credits on our bank account from federal tax returns and tuition assistance
3. Angels & Demons is finally showing

But it didn’t push through because:
1. Hubby was running a mild fever when he came home from work
2. I was excited about seeing the movie & preempted it with a tweet & thereby jinxed it

So what we did instead was:
1. Go to Longs Drugs to buy a thermometer
2. Get some Chinese takeout from Panda Express
3. Watch a free movie from Comcast which was You, Me & Dupree

Chicken Chicken

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Yesterday was chicken take-out day for us. I wasn’t feeling very well so I asked my husband to get some lunch so we can eat together too after his work was done. For lunch we each had McChicken mini meal and shared an additional medium fries. What’s the point of ordering a mini meal?

Then we went to claim a free movie ticket but was forced to see Girls of Girlfriends Past instead of X-Men Origins: Wolverine because the free ticket didn’t apply to the latter.

The movie was over before six. We strolled along the mall a little, then we drove home; but stopped at Panda Express to buy some dinner. I was craving orange chicken, and hubby ordered mongolian chicken for himself. They were both good. We finished everything while we watched Magic’s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed on TV and had some honeydew for dessert.
