So last night, after picking up the chicken katsu that I ordered from our favorite Hawaiian restaurant, the hubby drove me to FedEx so we can send my notebook PC back to HP for repair. As I mentioned in a previous post (maybe that’s on my other blog), the screen just went blank one day. Anyways, there were ladies in the store who looked like they are in need of a potent combination of strenuous exercise, effective weight loss pills, and maybe bariatric surgery, then tummy tuck. They could have serious health problems and I don’t mean to be rude but I just don’t understand why people would allow themselves to grow that big; it’s not healthy, it’s not comfortable, it’s not practical and sometimes it can even hurt one’s self-esteem. I need to remember all these things next year when I would have to get back in shape.

First the makeup brushes, now the bath products! I’m totally addicted to EcoTools. This kit just came in yesterday but it has a walnut shell body scrub instead of the body mist. Hmmm, that’s why I was itching to buy the body mist; I wanted matching scents for my hand cream and body mist (that’s the OC talking). Most of them smell citrussy and minty. Right now, I’m testing the hand cream versus Bath & Body Works and Aveeno. EcoTools One Hand Helps The Other was gone the first time I washed my hands. The same happens with Bath & Body Works. So far, Aveeno is unmatched. I only have one problem with it, they don’t have it in travel size. Now I regret giving it to the hubby to keep it in the car because it’s unscented.
I’m glad I thought of testing the hand cream out before buying the full size one. Also glad to be woman… Just imagine me trying out testosterone creams had I been a man.
Where Have I Been?
Thursday, July 1st, 2010I know, most creatures come out from hibernation at the beginning of spring, but I was still hibernating in the midst of summer! I’ve been here. Haven’t written a lot lately. I got spoiled by all those guest posts that kept my blog alive and entertaining despite my laziness and lack of enthusiasm these days. Some things have been going on too. Some things needed to be prioritized so I took a step back from blogging. The anxiety didn’t help me at all too. I’ve forgotten about my diet and exercise plans. Thanks goodness I didn’t have money to buy exercise equipment or I would have wasted a good amount on one of those elliptical machines that I saw at the Mini Mall a few weeks back.
Take Safety into Consideration During Summer
Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010Guest post from blogger Alex Maley
Summer can be a very dangerous time. Regularly setting a All Home Security door alarm is not enough to stay safe. For starters, the summer sun can cause extreme damage if protection is not taken. Everyone should make sure to wear sunscreen and apply sunscreen to children and hairless pets before going outside into the harsh sunlight. To much exposure to direct sunlight can lead to dry, aged-looking skin and even cancer. At the very least, one can easily contract a painful sunburn from only a few hours in the sun during the heat of the summer season.
Another tip to stay safe during the summer is to drink at least eight glasses of water per day and to stay out of direct heat for long periods of time. The intense heat that accompanies summer can lead to dehydration and exhaustion very easily. Many people forget to hydrate when visiting a theme park or participating in other fun outdoor activities. This can lead to lose of vision, losing consciousness and worse. And many times, the person is unaware anything is wrong until these systems are actually experienced. This is a very dangerous situation that can easily be avoided by making sure to take the proper precautions.
Summer is a fun and exciting time for everyone, whether they be children on vacation from school or adults relaxing at the beach, but it can turn deadly if safety isn’t taken into consideration.

I’m now drooling for the kettle corn that the hubby can’t stop talking about over the phone while he’s there at Fiesta Days and I’m here at home. I was supposed to go with him but he changed his mind at the last minute. I”m thinking about food again and digging into leftover butter popcorn from two movie nights ago. That can’t be good. I just had chicken katsu for lunch and should still be full at this hour. I think I may need to check appetite suppressants like phentermine or whatever.
dark circles
Wednesday, May 26th, 2010Woke up this morning and headed straight to the bathroom as usual. I noticed my dark circles again and heard my mother’s voice in my head… I shouldn’t be surprised, really, since I’ve been staying up late and forgetting to put on my special concealer. Naturally, the concealer slash eye cream for dark circles won’t work if I keep forgetting to put it on. I’m not going to waste a good eight dollars on a cosmetic item; must remember, must remember.

While hubby is getting in better shape and health, I seem to be getting worse. Aside from my biological clock being broken and seemingly irreparable, my metabolism is far from normal too. The other night, errr, dawn, since a migraine attack tucked me in bed early, I woke up at 5 in the morning feeling hungry. So I got up and had a bowl of cereal. I turned the TV on but had nothing to watch aside from the paid advertisements. They’ll never run out of things to sell because people are always looking for the best exercise equipment, top rated diet pill, best gadgets, or pet Snuggies. I still can’t believe that an advertisement for wheat grass to be fed to cats can last more than five minutes. ;p

acne treatment side effects
Thursday, May 6th, 2010I can’t decide whether to use the acne medication that was just recently prescribed to me by a local physician or the one that my dermatologist in the PI had sent me. Which could be more effective? Both have serious side effects and I was cautioned not to use them if I suspected pregnancy.
Since the hubby is more likely to stay than to be deployed in another country, I did some research to find out if I can take prenatal vitamins while on the acne regimen, and was surprised to find some good news. I read in an article that prenatal vitamins often cause better skin, hair and even nails, so maybe I should just start on that and forego the acne regimen hoping that the prenatal vitamins would really cause those beneficial side effects. I would also be hitting two birds with one stone: I can keep the harmful substances in my acne meds from getting into my blood stream and maybe I can sleep better, being sluggish from the vitamins. LOL!
Besides, I would not want those chemicals to be in my blood stream when I become pregnant, they can cause birth defects. :’(
Some substances like those in Accutane, for instance, have more side effects than that. They have been found out to also cause the following:
- dry and cracking skin, lips & noses, conjuctivitis
- bowel inflammation resulting to diarrhea, severe abdominal pains, even rectal bleeding
- increased pressure within the skull that can cause blurry vision, headaches and nausea
- irritation of the optic nerves, which would require a neurologist to correct (serious indeed!)
- rashes, peeling of the soles and palms which can increase risk of infections and sunburn
- depression
- urinary discomfort
- fatigue
- decreased tolerance for contact lenses
- thinning hair
That’s a lot of side effects, don’t you think? No wonder Accutane has become a last resort in acne treatment. It’s sad that some people had to suffer from these side effects, maybe before these studies came out; good for them there are accutane attorneys who specialize in their cases to help them file their claims.
I think I know what to do now. The choice is clear. I’d just skip the acne regimen and hope the prenatal vitamins make my skin look and behave better. *fingers crossed*
Cissus Quadrangularis
Thursday, April 22nd, 2010What’s this? Tongue twister? Not really, though it is hard to pronounce.
Cissus Quarangularis is actually an ancient medicinal plant native to the hotter areas of Ceylon and India. It has been known to be an effective tonic, analgesic and joint pain relief. It is believed to make bones stronger and to make the healing process faster in fractured bones. Because of this, it has gained popularity with athletes, and is now said to indirectly aid in weight loss. For more information on this wonder plant, please visit www.cissusquadrangularis.org .

Have I mentioned before that most of the things I write here are first thought of while I’m doing some chores? Be it washing the dishes, or doing the laundry, or scrubbing the tub, or trying a new recipe, aptly, I get my ideas while I’m trying to be a good housewife.
As I washed the dishes today (I still have to do that even when I’m feeling a bit sick because otherwise they’ll pile up), I thought about my seemingly insolvable issue: gaining weight.
What should be done to a person like me? I only have to lose some extra ten pounds, that should be easy enough if I had been another person. I love junk food (yeah, I used the word LOVE!), i feel deprived when I eat just veggies or steamed proteins, I’m too lazy to exercise, I’m scared to hell of diet pill side effects. What should I do? I think I just heard something in me say, “Change your attitude.” Ow.
