In more or less than six months, I’m going to have to fit into a dress for a friend’s church wedding. This may be the first time after I have had a baby that I would have to dress up. I’m part of her entourage, and so is my baby. Aside from style, I now have to consider comfort and ability to move in a dress because I’m not only attending a party, but also taking care of a baby. But most of all, I have to have the right body for my dress.

I’m thinking about trying yoga to get in shape. It’s something that I can do quietly while the baby sleeps. How else do you expect me to start but to shop? I checked out some sites and found so many accessories. I don’t know which to purchase first. Yoga mats? Outfits? Maybe some thera bands? Instructional DVD? Geez! I wish I thought of this earlier so I would have given somebody a hint on what Christmas present to give me. J/K ;p

Next Dental Visit

Wednesday, August 17th, 2011

The hubby just remembered that it has been a year now since my last visit to the dentist and has arranged to take some days off work so he could take me. I have foregone seeing my expensive cosmetic dentist (whose dental care services we most definitely can not afford if we did not have the military dental insurance) while I was pregnant because we got too busy during the time that I was supposed to have my semi-annual checkup and prophylaxis. Actually, my whole pregnancy was crazy busy because we were rushing to do and finish so many thing; some of which are still pending up to this date.

Anyways, I bet this dentist would be surprised to know that I am now a mother of a lovely 3-month old little girl. He had been waiting for me to get my driver’s license and was wishing me luck in getting it the last time that I saw him. I wonder if he would still remember me… I think he has very good memory. He wasn’t just making small talk, he actually knows his patients, which I think, is a good professional and personal trait. After my first visit and our introduction, I never came into his clinic as a stranger again. He and his staff always call patients by their first names and ask them how they have been since the last visit. And surprisingly enough, they do remember where to pick the conversation up like the last time we talked to them was just yesterday.

Sugar Test

Friday, February 25th, 2011

I just took the sugar test yesterday and failed. So tomorrow, I’ll be taking the follow-up glucose challenge test.

I’ve only began to gain enough weight because I stopped holding back on my cravings. If I fail this second test, it means that I have developed gestational diabetes and may need to be on a special diet. Well that’s gonna be tricky. How am I going to cut down on starchy and sweet food and still keep gaining enough weight to keep up with baby’s growth? That may be too tricky for me to handle so I’d probably seek the help of professionals at nutritional medicine. Maybe I should also start seeking for diet pills in case I gain a little too much weight and can’t manage to keep it off after delivery. Maybe.

Loser

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

It’s been over a week but still no weight gain for me and baby. I’ve been giving in to the call of soda and candy and chocolate even, but to no avail, I’m still stuck at 115 pounds. Who would have thought that pregnancy can be as effective in getting rid of that extra weight as the most effective diet pill available in the market. Maybe even more effective than one would wish. I would normally be a happy 115-pound woman but not now, I’m supposed to be eating more and gaining more weight for the baby. Come to think of it, I have set 115 as my maximum weight and failed miserably in maybe 2 months when I reached 120. What’s happening? I so need to come home to my mommy and load up on good home-style cooking…

Healthy weight loss pills, do they exist? I’m pregnant and weight loss is definitely not on my priorities right now but seeing these skinny celebrities on Filipino TV, I can’t help but wonder how they can keep their figures.

Personally, I found it easier to keep myself from gaining weight while I was in the Philippines because my metabolism was better; maybe because I was younger, and the weather was warmer and I ate more often. But these celebrities have the kind of work that could force them to skip meals, not have enough sleep, much less watch their diets. So some resort to weird diets, diet pills or going under the knife. It’s just a matter of telling which method they use. LOL! The ones who don’t have to do anything special at all are truly lucky!

Skinny Kelly Ozzy

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

When I turned the TV on at around lunchtime today, it was still on E! And I happened to see Kelly Osbourne’s photos from a magazine shoot. She was flaunting her new bod in a bikini! She too was surprised with the results and she told her story. She said that her Dancing With the Stars partner/trainer paved the way to her transformation. She was advised to make some changes in her habits, like eating breakfast, snacking on apples or salad at night, trading water for soda and she probably did some of the best fat burning exercises aside from the dancing and rehearsing that she had a lot of during that time.

Look at her! She lost more than 50 pounds from the time she started. And she said she’s probably gonna do this for life because she’s loving her new lifestyle and her new self. I just had to post this as a reminder and inspiration when my time to slim down comes. In the mean time, I’m enthusiastically watching my number go up the scale, happy and guilt-free!

Hubby passed his physical exam last Monday. Yay! He made it without working out as often as he usually does (because I’m pregnant and he’s spending more of his time taking care of me, the baby and our ever-growing needs) but I had a feelsky last night and those muscles are still rock-hard! Good for him! He managed to meet the requirements without using his muscle building supplements which are nowhere to be found right now in our warehouse-looking home. We still haven’t done much work. It’s not motivating, actually, I don’t know when we’ll finish. Neither do I know if we’ll even get started!

Pregnancy & weight gain

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

What’s really happening in a pregnant woman’s body? I wish doctors can tell you exactly what to expect but no, it’s different for everyone.

As for me, I never thought I’d get food aversions instead of food cravings. That could feel really weird for a food lover like me. I mean, all of a sudden I don’t enjoy eating anymore. I’m eating for survival, for health, no longer for enjoyment.

It’s been weeks since I last checked my weight. I don’t think I’m gaining any. I’m almost halfway my third month. In a few weeks, I’ll have to keep track of my weight gain to make sure that my baby is also growing at a normal rate.

Didn’t expect weight gain would be a problem for me during pregnancy. If anything, I’ve thought of what I would do to lose weight after giving birth. I’ve even done some reading on thermogenic fat burners online. But I’m setting that aside for a moment. Being pregnant is like preparing for a huge exam. There’s a lot to learn, a lot to remember, and there’s a time limit. So for now I’m gonna have to catch up on reading the “pregnancy bible.” I’ll deal with excess fat later. I’m licensed to be oversized right now. ;p

My weight gain at the state fair

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

Guest post written by Stephen Goul

Sometimes when I’m eating something and I’m really loving it, I just can’t seem to make myself stop even when I know that I should. So when I go to places when there’s all kinds of great food like K&W cafeteria, I just spend so much money on food that I don’t really need. That’s what happened to me at the state fair this year.

I was looking at all kinds of different foods that are supposed to be served at the state fair with my clear internet about a week or so before i actually went. That was a mistake because then I got excited about all that food and knew that I just had to try all of it.

One of those things that I knew that I would just have to try was deep fried butter. I know it just sounds like a heart attack waiting to happen, but it was one of those things that I had to try just so I could say that I did. It just really tasted like deep fried dough.

Still hoping for a miracle, I thought pregnancy would scare my acne away; but just a few days ago, I started breaking out again. I wonder if there’s any truth to those statements that acne will eventually leave your face because you’re producing more new blood which is supposedly cleaner and fresher. I’ve stopped using my acne products though, until I get the chance to ask a doctor and be sure which ones are safe and which are not. I have some idea but still want to hear it from a doctor.
