Yay to hubbay!

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Yesterday was a happy day. I was first to actually see the hubby’s name in the list of airmen selected for promotion. I even saw it before he did! Although it doesn’t take effect until April or May next year, it’s still good news… At least he doesn’t have to give much effort on studying for the exam next year because he has secured his promotion already.

This is one of the moments when I’m thankful that the hubby is in the military. In addition to the allowances, the GI Bill, the medical and life insurance with no medical questions. Of course, sometimes I hate it too because of deployment and stuff like that. But right now, I’m focusing on the good stuff…

interesting morning

turkey ham, eggs and toast

Had an interesting morning today…

.

.

.

Hubby was up early because he had to take a quiz and was checking theĀ  coverage of ourĀ insurance online, after which, he said he’d make me some breakfast. So he opened the fridge, took out some eggs and casually laid them on the counter. He walked away, heading to the bathroom when I suddenly noticed movement. One egg was rolling to the edge of the counter! I let out a wild scream as I ran to catch it… I did it! We burst in uncontrollable laughter, we probably woke up our neighbors.

“Nice save,” he said. He thought I saved the egg, but as far as I am concerned, I saved the floor and myself from what would have been an eeky mess.

Success!

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Today I was finally able to move some furniture and stuff around the house and clear the bar/counter. I’ve been meaning to do this since the year began but, well, procrastinated. Big time. I hope the hubby approves and keeps it as is for at least a week.

I really need another coffee table for the living room. But I may have to wait until the next big holiday to go buy one. Holidays are just about the best time to buy mattresses, furniture and other pricey items because stores offer great deals and lay away. Let me just check the calendar for the next one… Memorial Day. Hmmm… That’s another month away.

what keeps me sane

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

While the hubby supposedly worked on his assignment, I read through my February issue of RedBook, washed three loads of laundry, sipped some Coke and made a whole pack of Japanese rice crackers disappear.

It’s totally twisted how my “wifey mode” turns on when the hubby and I stay at home because he has to do school work. I say twisted because he expects me to be on “stand-by mode”, as willing a recipient of his unlimited hugs and kisses as a stuffed animal, as opposed to my unusually energetic mood.

Anyways, Coke keeps me sane in more ways than just the supply of sugary happiness. I got my 1-year RedBook subscription free from MyCokeRewards.com. RedBook seemed to be the best magazine for my lifestyle as a newly-wed wife. It has recipes, tips on married life, fashion finds, stories, coping strategies, feng shui and more. Some articles may be more useful to me when I actually have kids than now that it’s just the hubby and me in our little family.

Getting Coke Rewards is easy. I simply entered the codes on the caps of Coke products into my account, earn points for that and claim my rewards when I have sufficient points for something I like. Last year, I got the RedBook subscription for 130 points, and just yesterday, I claimed a Marie Claire subscription in exchange for 168 points. (Hey don’t start counting how much Coke I consume!) I’m hoping the first copy is the April issue where Project Runway’s Anthony Williams’ creation will be featured.

A year’s supply of Hearst magazines in exchange for all the Coke I gulped, and all the weight I gained through that… There should also be a lot of exercise routines in those magazines.

Change / Happy Place

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Hubby surprised me the other night when he slumped on my side of the bed; the side he wouldn’t take even if I begged him to. I slept very comfortably on his side & even dreamt of my grandparents & cousins; he, on the other side, didn’t wake up so happy. He said his sleep was not as deep as usual & rushed to his volunteer work.

He came home later with lunch but asked me to still fry some of the lumpia that Nanay gave us & garlic rice. We watched a movie on DVD, then he took a nap while I broke my record on returning balls on Wii Tennis. LOL!

I took a bath and got ready to go to the mall for his haircut and my stroll. I pulled the car from our parking space (but not without irritating the hubby), and drove TO the mall for the first time. I tried to park properly but did not succeed. I was commended for not hitting that reckless skateboarder though. Yay! Took me about thirty minutes to get there instead of the normal fifteen. But the important thing is WE GOT THERE ALIVE! The mall is always a happy place but I’ve never been happier to step in the mall before this night. So to congratulate myself for not getting anyone killed on my way there, I bought myself a headband & a romper! Teehee!

We had McD for dinner but I felt a headache coming before I can even finish my food. So I retired early (on my side of the bed now) while hubby prepared for his lesson. He followed me later. Beside him is always a happy place for me too.
