I Go The Library For Two Reasons: Money and Women

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Guest post of the week by Ferdinand Livingston

Everyone is trying to save money these days. I’m no different. Luckily, I have kept my job due to hard work and always doing as I’m told. On the other hand, I’m not taking any chances. I need to save money in case I lose my job. What I have realized about saving is that it adds up really fast. All I do is put 10% of every paycheck into my savings. I can’t believe how much money I have saved after only one year. But there are other reasons I have more money as well. One reason is that I don’t spend on excess things anymore. For example, I use to frequent the bookstore. Before I knew it, I was spending $50 easy, even though I had no intention on spending a dime. I eventually realized that it would be a good idea to go to the library instead. Now, every day after I get home from work, I eat a snack, set my ADT Home alarm, and walk to the library. Do I go there to read books? Yes. Does it save me money? Yes. Is there another reason that I go the library that I haven’t mentioned yet? Absolutely. There is a girl around my age who is always there at the same time. I’m hoping she sits across from me for a reason, but I’m not sure. I’m going to keep an eye on her without looking creepy. Maybe I can gather up the nerve to talk to here. The worst case scenario is that I get rejected and start going to the bookstore again.

Reading the Gossip Girl books now

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Guest post written by Veronica Cartwright

Most of the time instead of watching things based off of books I’ve read, I have to end up reading the books that movies and TV shows I like because I never realized that there are books they’re based off of. The latest thing that happened to me with is the Gossip Girl books.

Since the show started a few years ago, I had known that it was based on books but didn’t really have the time to read them until now. I went online to order a set of them and saw the site http://www.getclearwirelessinternet.com. I read through it and I think that I’m going to switch over my internet service to the company.

I’m only a few books into the Gossip Girl book series, but I’m really loving them. I just think that the whole concept of a gossip site and text messaging with gossip is even better and more believable years later now than when the books first came out. It just goes to show how important social media really is to people.

I’m thinking maybe it’s time to read my books again. I have finished reading my second copy of Confessions of a Shopaholic (left my first one at home) a few weeks ago. I returned a pair of wedge sandals which I never got to wear and spent my refund on The Time Traveler’s Wife. I began reading it when my friend Kathy gave me an ebook copy but I was confused with the formatting so I had to get a real book.  Most of the punctuation marks used were just periods and somehow I had to see the commas and the apostrophes and all that, so I got a real book. I’m all for the green thing, saving trees and all, but I can’t argue with the OC in me.
