Win the Battle

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Some unpleasant experiences in our lives may cause traumatic stress; there’s physical abuse, witnessing the death of a loved one, experiencing pain, accidents or emotional abuse that contribute to traumatic stress. Most people who go through traumatic experiences in their lives can recover easily but some, instead of recovering from trauma, develops to full PTSD or post traumatic stress disorder and for that, they will need some assistance in the form ofpost traumatic stress disorder treatment.

When one suspects PTSD with their friends or family member, they need to bring it to the attention of an expert. Consult and learn about the disorder and how it can be treated. There are cases when the patient needs to live in a house or school that offers this kind of treatment. These are houses that offer treatment to people with post traumatic stress disorder. Since people who are suffering from this kind of disorder need proper care in terms of emotional, psychological and physiological well-being, a school or a treatment house is always the best option.

Battling PTSD is not easy but with the proper guidance and care from the experts and the patient’s willingness to recover, the battle can be won.

Going Back To The 70′s

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

When was the last time you played in an arcade machine? Do you sill remember those days, spending hours on amusement parks and some public places just to play your favorite arcade game?

For the younger generation, arcade gaming is through an entertainment machine that is coin-operated. You insert a coin and you can play the game for a certain amount of time, if you want to continue playing, you need to insert another coin. Arcade machines such as pacman arcade machine were installed in public places like bars, amusement parks, restaurants and malls. It was very popular in the 70′s until late 80′s. Arcade games started to become less popular when game consoles were introduced in the market.

Nowadays, arcade games are still being played in some countries, a type of arcade games, the merchandiser or called claw cranes can still be seen on malls and other amusement park. Other arcade games are still being played but old game such as Pacman are not present anymore, but if you want to play this game, you can find arcade machines on the net that sells new arcade machines with the feel and look of the old times.

The Shortest Distance Is A Smile

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

The shortest distance between two people is a smile. ~Author Unknown

A lot of people are confident to smile, they smile because they have good teeth or they just smile because they just want. Some people are a little shy when it comes to smiling due to their teeth or some because of their braces. What they do not know is that they can now wear braces that is invisible to the human eye.

San Antonio Invisalign or invisalign per se is a removable teeth aligner. This is used as an alternative to the metal braces that has been used traditionally. The main advantage of invisalign is its aesthetics. Since the aligner is transparent, people will not know you are wearing braces. And another great thing about it is the fact that it is removable, making it eating a lot easier in comparison to traditional braces.

So how does invisalign really work? It still applies the same principle of traditional braces that is applying pressure on the teeth. The invisible aligner is also replaced approximately every two weeks. But as I have mentioned above, there is a great difference in terms of eating. Invisalign should be taken out during eating and cleaning of teeth, thus there is no restriction to the food that you can eat that may damage the braces unlike in traditional metal braces where you need to be careful with the food that you chew.

Some Practical Tips When Writing a Book

Sunday, November 13th, 2011

Writing a book is not an easy task. It involves a lot of thinking, planning and, of course, writing. If you think your excellence in writing is more than for essays and short stories and you have been planning to write your own novel, here are some of the things that may come in handy.

Some writers think that self publishing companies should be the least of their worries but it’s never wrong to prioritize it. These are small publishing companies that allow a writer to publish a book in minimum quantity. This will be very helpful if you are targeting a big publication house or planning to sell on book stores. By publishing a small number of books, you get to send samples to publishing houses or books stores without hurting your pocket that much.

Now that you know where you can publish your book, let’s start writing it shall we? The first step involves determining what kind of book you are writing. Is it a novel? fiction, non-fiction? or a self help book? When you have decided on the type of book, start thinking of your story, how the book will turn out, how it will start and how it will end. As you start writing, you will discover that there are times when ideas flow naturally and there are times that they won’t. The secret is never forcing yourself to write when you’re not up to it. Try not to give yourself a deadline and just go with the flow.

Cool Weather

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Seems like the air is beginning to be filled with autumn breezes in place of the summer heat. I love this kind of weather when the air stays cool inside the house so there’s no need to use the air-conditioning unit anymore, but is not too cold to keep us from enjoying short walks outside. Spring and fall really are my favorite seasons because, aside from the weather being just the right blend of warm and cold, nature gives quite a show during these seasons too. Spring flowers and falling leaves are so relaxing to look at.

Meanwhile inside the house, I may have to pull out our thicker set of bedspreads and comforters in preparation for the cold nights of fall and the freezing nights of winter… Brrr! Oh, there’s one thing that I don’t like about cold weather, the laundry tends to pile up because we have to dress up in multiple layers. I just now realized that I haven’t yet washed the sweaters that I used last spring. Now I’m worried how I am going to sleep through the cold nights without hubby close by. The baby prefers to sleep with us rather than in her crib so she’s in the middle of the bed, physically separating me from hubby. I have a feeling that is not about to change as the weather gets colder. She loves being snuggled just like Mom and Pop.

ATL

Friday, September 9th, 2011

Guest post written by my buddy Aldo Mays

We just found out that my husband matched in Atlanta for his residency. He is really excited and thinks that the program is great, but I have some reservations. My reservations aren’t about the program, I honestly think it will be the best to prepare him for his career. My reservations are about actually living in the city of Atlanta. I have always lived at least an hour or two away from the city, only making the trip when I need to shop, visit a friend, or go to the airport. The reason that I really don’t like Atlanta is the traffic. It is horrible. One time it took me two hours to go three miles! The other thing that I am worried about in Atlanta is property crime. A couple of years ago, I was Christmas shopping and my car got broken into. Luckily, I didn’t have anything valuable in it, and the car didn’t get stolen, but I had to replace a smashed window. We are going to purchase our first home and the first thing I am going to do is call ALL home security atlanta.

While baby and I were strolling at the mall yesterday, after we were kicked out of the family lounge which closed at 8:30 pm for maintenance and cleaning and while waiting for her shopaholic Pop to come back from his little shopping escapade, I was looking at the displayed jewelry in some stores and wondered how I could differentiate diamonds from other semi-precious gems that are presented as the former. How do I know whether I bought real diamond earrings or just moissanite earrings when they are very close in most of their qualities except the price? I guess I’d just google that. But not now, I have laundry to keep away. Good night for now…

Aloha Facebook

Monday, August 1st, 2011

Like an exotic temptress, the topic of Hawaii is all over Facebook: except on my own wall, that is. I saw some friends updating their stats, some just came home from the Aloha State, some are just packing for a trip, while others are already flaunting great pictures and thanking their generous hosts.

There’s no denying that Hawaii is one of my dream destinations. One reason why I want to go there is because I assume that being there would feel like being at home in my tropical hometown, the Philippine Islands. The weather is great, the beaches are just heavenly and food is familiar. I frequent Hawaiian restaurants here in the US and I would describe the food that they offer as a delicious mix of several international cuisines.

Aside from that, Hawaii is almost always depicted as a picturesque paradise in movies and lifestyle shows. I just can’t wait to experience Hawaii and see it’s beauty with my own two eyes. Who knows, we may be able to find some Hawaii real estate for sale and buy it IF we can afford it someday… But I would have to wait till my little one is big enough to enjoy the vacay with me and Pop Pie. And wait for my winning lottery ticket too!

AirSoft

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

I was just writing about some boyish activities that I want to engage in with hubby. While doing so, I remembered my father and the days when he taught me how to shoot targets using his airgun. I wonder now if he would like to try air soft and go back to his old hobby.

What Is Airsoft? AirSoft is a sport or hobby where participants shoot plastic (or other non-metallic material) pellets using replica firearms. If caution is taken, regulations are followed, and because the pellets are non-lethal, it is safer than what my father and I used to do. Participants are often required to wear protective gear. It is a similar to paintball (where paint pellets are used) or reballing (which is paintless paintball where foam pellets are used). Replica guns used for airsoft are commonly made in China and Japan but some are manufactured in the Philippines, the US, and Taiwan.

(credits to Wikipedia for the information)

Since equipment, supplies, gear, multiple participants and a venue is needed to play airsoft, I guess it’s an expensive hobby. But the fun and adrenaline rush that it promises should be worth it! It is also getting more popularity; there are a lot of arenas and shops where players can play and buy their stuff. I have even found online stores that have really good shipping policies.

the House Search

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Thanks for the guest post by Jonathan Curtis

Having a hard time finding a house was just the tip of the iceberg for me. I thought it wouldn’t take a lot of time to find the house of my dreams but it ended up being an over 2 year process! Every time I found the right place it was either way out of my way or way out of my price range and it was just never perfect. That is, until I found 1604 Willow Drive. This bungalow is exactly what I’ve been looking for and it’s even got some extra features I wasn’t even counting on like a pool. I’ve had to do a few things like file my deed with the county office and go to TexasElectricityPROVIDERS.com to make sure my utilities were correct but all in all it’s been a pretty painless process once I found the house and got the ball rolling. It’s a little more than I wanted to spend but it’s totally worth it to live in the house of my dreams!
