My Soccer Hunk

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011

Having been a soccer player as a teenager, my hubby once again become a sports enthusiast because of the viral popularity of the Philippine Azkals – the Philippine soccer/football team consisting of players with various international accents, LOL!

I often catch him watching videos, on YouTube, of games that he had missed. It’s fascinating to me how he voices his opinions about the team’s strengths and weaknesses from an experienced player’s prospective.

Funny that I got the chance to write about this today, although I meant to do this days ago when I was too busy to even check out football gifts for him *sad*, because it’s his birthday today… I hope my simple gift of pancit will draw a smile on his face in this special day…

Happy Birthday, Pop Pie! Elle & I love you so so much! Mwah!

Useful

Thursday, July 14th, 2011

Baby slept a lot today; she even went to bed early this evening.  I was able to eat my meals on time, have a snack, take a nap, talk to my mom over Skype, finally water my succulents, prepare a simple dinner for the hubby, give baby a bath, take a shower, wash and sterilize feeding bottles, blog a little about Tube Bending and random stuff and prepare bills that need to be paid. That’s a lot of work compared to the little that I’ve been able to do when baby was just a few weeks old. It’s nice to feel “useful” again.

I’m also thankful that hubby wasn’t too tired when he came home from work so he was able to cuddle and play with baby. He even fed her, changed her diaper and put her to sleep. I’m glad we’re finally working like a team and living the way a real family should.

Shhh! My hubby and my baby are sleeping… I took the chance to get my hubby a father’s day present (exactly on father’s day). I can’t let this day pass by without making a big deal of it; it’s his first father’s day ever. Having him in my life for more than thirteen years, I know that coming up with nice presents on special occasions is tough but just because gifts for men are hard to find, doesn’t mean we can’t be clever in choosing one to make them happy… This gift will be late but I hope he appreciates it. I’m a full-time mother and wife now, that’s my excuse for being late…

Organized Chaos

Friday, June 17th, 2011

It has been 36 days since I gave birth; two weeks since hubby went back to work and I was left alone to take care of baby. I know I made the best decision because baby made it out my womb safely but when I see the current state of our house, I can’t help but regret having undergone surgery and being debilitated thereby. All those days of nesting gone to waste. The house is far (so far that I would probably need steiner binoculars to have even a glimpse of it) from how I pictured it would be when baby arrives: neat, organized, spotless. Well I guess this is just one of the changes that I have to embrace… Organized chaos.

Pop’s Day

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Father’s day is just around the corner. It’s a very special occasion for us this year because for the first time, dear hubby would be one of the celebrated fathers all over the world.

It’s also a huge challenge for me to get him a nice gift because I’m unable to go with him to the stores so I’m not sure what’s on his wish list. I plan to check out some funny tshirts online but want to add something more special to that. Online shopping is something that I have been doing for quite some time now. It used to be so easy but has become a challenge now that I’m busier than ever taking care of baby. Anyhow, I’ll find a way… We can’t take our beloved Pop Pie for granted…

One Week

Monday, June 13th, 2011

We were lucky to have some family come over to help us during the first few weeks after baby’s arrival. But last week, they all had to go back to their usual routines and leave us… But we’ve survived a whole week as a family, just the three of us. Hubby and I took turns in taking care of baby, doing some chores, having meals, taking naps and showers.

The baby has been so easy too. She’d take a couple of 2 to 3-hour naps so hubby and I can go about our own “homeworks.”

I’ve also been grocery shopping online since I can not be with the hubby when he goes out to buy our household essentials and baby stuff. I’m hoping this won’t have an effect on the number of sales jobs out there that many do for a living but I’m gonna be doing this probably until baby is big enough to join us in our trips to the store.

Maternal Instinct

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

For the past two days, baby and I have been spending time alone. I’m surprised at how we were able to survive those two days. Baby is very patient with her newbie Mom Mie & my maternal instincts have just kicked in. Even the hubby seems to have them; he may need some natural testosterone booster to get his machismo back. *LOL* Baby and hubby’s bonding is great; so great that sometimes they make me jealous. Seeing how the two of them interact gives me unbelievable joy though.

It’s still surreal sometimes but yeah, we’re definitely a family of three now…

Child care is a seriously demanding job. I had no idea I’d be this busy with baby… We have some of my husband’s family members come over to help with chores so neither of us have to do those. They also help us with taking care of baby, teaching us a lot of basic things since we are first-time parents. You’d think we have it easy if that’s the case but sometimes it’s still hard to find time to do things for myself. Simple things like a long sit-down meal or taking a shower are luxury now that I’m pressed for time. Needless to say, those supplement reviews and a makeover for this blog would have to fall in line along with the many things still waiting to be done. Right now, priority #1 is my baby…

Hubby has a lot in his hands right now… And I mean a lot… Like today, he had to volunteer for a Memorial Day event. He is also enrolled in graduate school, plus he is a new father… I feel that he’s finding a hard time juggling all these but I also have to rely on him for help because I delivered baby via C-section and am not allowed to do certain things, so he is also a house-band, he has to take charge in the upkeep of our abode. He won’t have time to check out hgh releasers, no time to work on his summer bod for now…

Beddings

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

We’re afraid of leaving baby to sleep alone in her crib so she sleeps with us and sometimes she has accidental leaks. We may need additional beddings and I’m eyeing some matouk beddings online (online is my best bet for shopping now that I’m a nursing mom). I’m also trying to find one that hubby would meet hubby’s taste because he’s conscious about showing our sheets on Facebook whenever we post baby’s pictures.
